Cloud 9 is the moment the sun finally peeks through the Nashville overcast. Released in February 2026, Moroney’s third studio effort finds the Georgia native navigating the whiplash of superstar-level fame while trying to keep her heart (and her humor) intact. Working again with producer Kristian Bush, Cloud 9 is 52 minutes of polished, muscular country-pop that feels built for the arenas she’s currently selling out. It’s an album about the vertigo of success—the view from the top is great, but as the title track suggests, it’s a long way down if the “6’2″ dream” you’re falling for turns out to be a nightmare.
The Power of the Pivot: On “Medicine,” Moroney leans into a delightfully vengeful streak. It’s a sharp, mid-tempo groove that sounds like a vintage Eric Church track if it were dressed in pink sequins. Lyrically, it’s a lethal dose of wit, proving she’s still Nashville’s most effective writer of the “eye-roll anthem.”The Star-Studded Sessions: The collaborations here aren’t just for the credits. “I Only Miss You” featuring Ed Sheeran is a gorgeous, whiskey-soaked 3:00 AM ballad that highlights the rasp in Moroney’s tobacco-laced alto. Meanwhile, “Bells & Whistles,” her cheeky duet with Kacey Musgraves, serves as a high-fashion zag, mocking the impossible standards and “liars, tigers, and bears” of the music industry. The album’s true weight lies in “Liars & Tigers & Bears.” It’s a meta-commentary on the fame machine, where Moroney grapples with being pitted against her peers. It’s the most “grown-up” song she’s ever written, trading the Instagram-caption hooks for genuine, bone-deep reflection.
