Baduizm is the debut studio solo album by American singer-songwriter Erykah Badu, released in 1997. The album is a fusion of neo soul, jazz, R&B, and hip hop, and is widely considered a seminal work in the neo soul genre. Lyrically, Baduizm explores themes of love, spirituality, and self-empowerment. Badu’s lyrics are deeply introspective and personal, with an emphasis on self-discovery and self-acceptance. The album’s opening track, “Rimshot (Intro),” sets the tone for the album, with Badu declaring her independence and self-worth.
