About this record
Comes on opaque lilac vinyl LP.
Released in 2025 “Play”, Ed Sheeran reopens the windows and lets the daylight rush back in. After years of introspection, grief, and emotional minimalism, Play feels like a deliberate pivot toward motion—rhythmic, curious, and outward-facing—without abandoning the songwriter’s instinct that made Sheeran one of pop’s most reliable narrators in the first place.
“Camera” reins things back in—a classic Sheeran ballad, gently fingerpicked and emotionally direct, proof that he hasn’t lost his gift for distilling vulnerability into melody. The album’s emotional core lands with “Slowly,” where Sheeran confronts the tension between stability and restlessness, success and simplicity. What makes Play compelling is its balance. Sheeran doesn’t chase trends; he absorbs them, filters them through melody and craft, and sends them back out sounding unmistakably his own.
