On Layover, V steps out of the stadium lights and into the late-night air, trading bombast for breath, polish for presence. Where so much pop chases immediacy, Layover lingers. It’s an album that moves at human speed—slow enough to feel your heartbeat, quiet enough to hear the room.  Opening with “Rainy Days,” V sets the tone immediately: brushed drums, muted keys, and a vocal performance that feels less sung than exhaled. His baritone—rich, grainy, unmistakable—floats through the mix like smoke curling toward a ceiling fan. “Blue” follows, steeped in vintage R&B melancholy, its melancholy groove suggesting heartbreak not as drama, but as atmosphere—something you live inside rather than escape.
The album’s emotional spine arrives with “Love Me Again,” a song that sounds like it’s been playing on an old radio for decades. It’s classic without being nostalgic, intimate without being precious. V doesn’t oversell the ache; he trusts the melody to carry the weight. When he asks for devotion, it feels tentative, bruised, human.
On “Slow Dancing,” the record’s centerpiece, Layover drifts fully into jazz-soul territory—saxophones sigh, rhythm sections sway, and V sounds completely at ease letting space do half the talking. The song plays like a lost after-hours session, and its warmth owes much to the album’s behind-the-scenes collaborators, including producer and creative director Min Hee-jin, whose restraint-first approach gives the music room to breathe rather than compete for attention.
