Music for The Starling Girl

Comes on translucent fog vinyl LP.

Pressein 2023, this is the soundtrack for the motion picture The Starling Girl. Few bands in modern indie folk have built a world quite like Lord Huron. Across a decade of albums, the Los Angeles group—led by songwriter Ben Schneider—has turned their music into something closer to mythology than mere discography. Their songs are filled with ghost towns, desert highways, fading love, and the lingering presence of spirits both literal and emotional. The Starling Girl, gathers those stories into a sweeping collection that plays like a road trip through the band’s haunted American landscape.
From the first echoing notes of “Stained Glass,” the album reintroduces listeners to Lord Huron’s signature atmosphere: twangy guitars drifting through cavernous reverb, steady rhythms that feel like the hum of tires on an empty highway, and Schneider’s voice—half storyteller, half wandering traveler. The track “Ace Up My Sleeve” shares the recurring theme: love that refuses to die, travelers chasing impossible horizons, and the strange beauty of solitude. The band’s music often feels like fragments of a forgotten American folklore—stories passed.
