Working with pop-leaning producer Kid Harpoon (known for his work with Harry Styles and Florence + The Machine), the band blends their signature Southern rock foundation with elements of indie rock, post-punk, and new wave. Tracks range from the angular, driving energy of singles like “Mustang” and the raucous “Nothing to Do” to moodier, atmospheric, and synth-tinged slow-burners like “Split Screen” and the trippy closing track, “Seen.”
The album features tight, groovy bass lines, spiky guitar work, and the unmistakable, whiskey-brined vocal delivery of Caleb Followill, which sounds both urgent and richly expressive. It is a record that, in the band’s own words, felt unencumbered and fun to make, showcasing a veteran group unified in vision and finally free to cut loose. It is a rousing return to form that celebrates the core rock-and-roll values that made them a thrilling band in the first place.
