Frozen Charlotte is a razor-sharp, 13-track exercise in blues-rock minimalism, heavy-groove kinetic energy rock & roll. Named after both a Victorian folk legend (a macabre tale of a girl who froze to death because she refused to coat up for a sleigh ride) and a series of White’s own fine-art sculptures recently showcased in London, the LP captures a musician operating at absolute peak temperature.
Tracked at White’s Third Man Studio in Nashville, Tennessee, Frozen Charlotte strips away the bloated conceptual weight of his late-2010s solo output in favor of live-room velocity. Self-produced by White and engineered alongside veteran board-wizard Bill Skibbe, the album’s sonic signature is raw, tactile, and unapologetically analog.
